Oscar Gil
Originally from El Salvador and a first-generation immigrant, came to Brooklyn, NY, when he was 8 years old. He grew up surrounded by a Jewish and Italian community. He attended William E. Grady High School, where he studied accounting. While in high school, he participated in three internship programs, took college courses, and engaged in various business programs.
He later attended Baruch College, part of CUNY (City University of New York), to pursue a career in accounting. However, that path never materialized. Early in his career, he realized that accounting was not the right fit for him. Although he enjoyed working with numbers, he ultimately transitioned into operations management.
Over the next 22 years, he gained experience in warehousing, manufacturing, and freight forwarding, working in every aspect of the industry. At 37 years old, he took a leap in faith and started his own warehousing business, beginning with a modest 20,000-square-foot facility. Within four years, he expanded it to 165,000 square feet and grew sales to over $5 million, establishing a back office in El Salvador.
His latest endeavors include opening a fitness studio in Bloomfield, NJ, and launching an e-commerce business that provides services for incarcerated individuals in correctional facilities.
